Learn how to patch a third party into an existing call with Connect-it

How to create a Conference Call

All Connect-it handsets and softphone apps give you the possibility to patch a third party into an existing call. Different phones make this happen in different ways, but the principle is the same throughout. You are on a call with someone and want to bring in someone else onto the call. Accessing your Conference feature puts the first party on hold and lets you dial the new participant. This can be someone in your group, an external person or someone stored on your speed dial buttons. Enter their number and press ‘Send’, just as you would do on a normal call, then when they pick up, you will have the option to bring both parties together with yourself on the call.

Polycom handsets

During a call on a Polycom handset, you will see one of the keys under the screen showing ‘More’. Press this and one of the further options is ‘Confrnc’. Select this to put the first call on hold and allow you to dial the number of the new participant. When they answer, press ‘Merge’ to bring everyone in on the call.

 Yealink handsets

1. Place a call to the first party.

2. Select Conference (Conf) to place a new call.

The active call is placed on hold.

3. Dial the second party’s number.

You can also select the desired contact from the search list, or select a contact from the placed call list or Directory before you enter the number.

4. When the second party answers the call, select Conference (Conf) to add the second party to the conference.

 Webex softphone

When on an active call, press the Webex menu button to access the additional features menu. Select ‘Conference’. This puts the first call on hold and brings up the keypad to allow you to dial the second call. When that person answers, press ‘Merge Calls’ to bring all participants together on one call.
